Medical examinations for Group 2 drivers are necessary for the following situations:
- This is your first Group 2 license application. All included small and medium-sized trucks, full-sized lorries, buses, and minibuses.
- You are applying to have your Group 2 entitlement renewed at the age of 45. A D4 will be required every five years from 45 until you reach 65, which will be required every year. There are rare exceptions, but the date on column 11 on the back of your driver's license should always be followed.
- You are under the age of 70, have a medically limited driver's license issued before January 1, 1997, and desire to apply for C1 or C1/D1 entitlement (vehicles with a maximum weight of 3500kg/or 16 passenger seats).
- You're applying for a new Group 2 provisional entitlement and haven't filed a medical in the past year.
- You are an EU/EEA driver whose permission to drive in Group 2 in the United Kingdom has expired.
- You're 70 years old and still require your C1 and D1 benefits. Every three years, you'll need to send in a medical.
